Variation of Award

A hearing was recently held at the AIRC to consider the pay rates in the Postal Services Industry Award. POAAL appeared at the hearing on behalf of Licensees.The CEPU applied to the AIRC to vary the Award with respect to the Safety Net Adjustment approved by the AIRC in May 2005.The new pay rates are available on WageNet or by ringing Wageline in your State. The new pay rates take effect from the first pay period on or after 11 August 2005 and remain in force for twelve months.The wage increases apply to all LPOs bound to the Award. This includes LPOs that were part of the first action by the CEPU in 2002, the LPOs that were subject to the recent second log of claims by the CEPU, and all LPOs in Victoria that are subject to the Award courtesy of the CEPU's Common Rule application.It should be noted that the Award applies to the LPO, not the Licensee, so when a logged LPO changes hands the Award still applies.POAAL's work for Licensees in relation to the Award incurs no extra cost to individual Licensees.
