Following a recent POAAL Newsletter announcing the new EPOS PIN pads, POAAL was asked by a number of Licensees if the new EPOS PIN pads would be affected by interference from mobile phones. AP has advised that the new PIN pads meet the relevant Australian/NZ standards for radio disturbance levels.AP has also provided POAAL with further details on the disposal strategy for the EPOS monitors and PIN pads that are to be replaced. The strategy is for zero landfill. To achieve this, AP will first maximise re-use of the old equipment and then to recycle. Working models will be sold and non-working models will be sent to an accredited disposal operator who will break them down into the main categories of glass, metal, plastic and electronic components for recycling. It is pleasing to see that AP has adopted an environmentally-friendly disposal strategy.
