Australia Post has responded to POAAL's extensive comments to them regarding the potential impact of Mail2Day on LPO operations. Licensee members will recall that POAAL collated responses from Committee members and Licensees from all over Australia.
Some of the significant points from AP's response:
- the Licensee commission will be reviewed for the coming financial year
- AP is confident that the netPOS system will be able to cope with the volume of users who would access the Mail2Day application during an intense period prior to 9am opening
- Mail2Day activity will not count towards an EPOS terminal's transaction count
- Mail2Day notifications will be sent to customers once per day
- additional mail received during the day is not to be advised to customers
- the costs of a scanner would be borne by AP if the LPO qualifies for a PDET scanner
- there are no outgoing phone calls associated with Mail2Day
