Many Licensees have noticed the impact of buying and selling via EBay is having on the postal business. Vendors are posting goods to buyers, and buyers are often paying via money order. Licensees should be alert to international cheques being presented for deposit by vendors, especially when drawn on an ANZ account or other banks with an Australian and international presence.
Check that all cheques presented for deposit are drawn in Australian dollars against an Australian bank. One Licensee reported that a customer presented an ANZ cheque drawn against a New Zealand branch. The cheque was remarkably similar to a cheque drawn against an Australian ANZ branch.
