Hand-held scanners for all EPOS LPOs

POAAL is pleased to report that Australia Post has agreed to invest in hand-held scanners for all EPOS LPOs. The rollout of PDTs (Portable Data Terminals – the technical name for hand-held scanners) comes as parcel volumes continue to grow.In response to POAAL's strong representations, Australia Post had already supplied PDTs to several hundred LPOs across Australia. POAAL has continued to push for all LPOs to have access to wireless scanning technology, and this further rollout of about 2100 PDTs will mean that all LPOs with EPOS should have a PDT by the end of 2011.PDTs should help Licensees process parcels faster and significantly reduce the handling of parcels.And to make this even better news for Licensees, Australia Post has agreed to supply these PDTs to LPOs at no cost to the Licensee.The parcels business is a competitive one, and the introduction of improved technology such as PDTs will help streamline Licensees' and Australia Post's business processes.
