POAAL hosted a lively and interesting meeting for NSW Licensees featuring two interesting and very different guest speakers.
Mr David Bates, Managing Director of Workforce Guardian, spoke about the demise of the Postal Services Industry Award and its replacements, and about obligations Licensees face as employers. An eye-opening presentation for Licensees.

The second speaker was Mr Ahmed Fahour, Managing Director/CEO of Australia Post who spoke on the future of the post office. He outlined how Licensees could help AP convince State and Federal Governments to support the post office by using the postal network for government Trusted Services as well as out-sourcing other work to Australia Post. Mr Fahour was blunt about the situation Australia Post finds itself in and talked about the impact of technology and the internet on a range of retail businesses, not just Australia Post.

Attendees listened intently to both speakers and asked many questions. Many Licensees lingered long after the end of the meeting, talking to POAAL’s NSW Branch Chairman, Bob Chizzoniti and NSW committee members. Stephen Price from Australia Post NSW/ACT was also present and took time to speak with many Licensees after the meeting.
