The ACCC has announced it does not object to Australia Post’s proposed price increase for its reserved ordinary letter service.
Subject to the Minister for Communications not disapproving the increase, the proposed price increases are expected to take effect on 17 July 2025.
Australia Post proposed a price increase for reserved ordinary letter services, including a change in the Basic Postage Rate (BPR) from $1.50 to $1.70.
The price for large letters up to 125g will increase from $3.00 to $3.40, and the price for letters over 125g and up to 250g will increase from $4.50 to $5.10.
Australia Post’s proposed price increase does not affect the price of concession stamps ($3 for 5 stamps). Concession and seasonal greeting stamps will remain at 60 and 65 cents respectively.
As part of its decision on Australia Post’s proposed BPR price increase, the ACCC has recommended Australia Post increase the yearly cap on the number of concessional stamps available to eligible concession card holders.
