Mail Contractors

Insurance for Mail Contractors

Mail Contractors should carefully scrutinise their contracts to check what insurances are mandatory. The most common mandatory insurances required by mail contractors are:

  • Public Liability Insurance

  • Personal Accident Insurance

  • Marine Cargo Insurance (Goods in Transit)

Contractors using a PDT (hand held scanner) will also be required to provide insurance for the scanner.

POAAL offers Mail Contractors the insurances they need under their contract through the POAAL master policy insurance policies. Details of the premium are listed on POAAL application and renewal forms.

Give Australia Post a copy of any insurance certificate(s) you receive. Do not give the original Certificate(s) to AP – keep them as your record.
